About Sex Therapy —
Sex therapy is a specialized treatment program focusing on the resolution of sexual concerns. As in any other psychotherapy situation, talking is the mode of treatment. There are no sexual relations nor nudity in the sessions. Clients are encouraged to talk
explicitly about their concerns, and with the help of the sex therapist, they learn about the etiology of their issues and explore various options to improve their sexual life.
Sex therapy is based on the assumptions that sex is good, that relationships should be meaningful, that interpersonal intimacy is a desirable goal, and that all people have equal rights to full expression and enjoyment of healthy sexual relationships.
Sexuality is an integral part of a person’s well-being. People who are bothered by their sexual functioning, or by any other sexually-related issue, may feel unhappy, inadequate, anxious, angry, etc. For many people, sexual functioning is closely tied in with their total concept of self-identity.
There are many sexual concerns that prompt people to seek the help of a sex therapist.
Among them are:
● Sexual Desire (too low or too high)
● Erection Difficulties
● Premature (early) or Delayed Ejaculation
● Orgasm Difficulties
● Painful Intercourse
● Issues of Sexual Abuse (for the victim, the survivor, and even for the perpetrator)
● Sexual Addiction (also known as Out of Control Sexual Behavior)
● Gender Issues
● Sexual Orientation Issues (including Minor Attracted Persons)
● Kink and Fetishes
● Relationship and Intimacy Issues
Dr. Miletski focuses mostly on insight-oriented, behavioral, cognitive, and psycho-educational therapies. The first few sessions are often used for assessment of the situation and clarification of the problem areas. Then a treatment program is usually tailored, to fit each client’s special needs.
